WHO WE ARE
Magic City Blight Busters is a new program developed by Birmingham United Neighborhoods (BUN) to inspire and motivate residents to get more involved in reducing neighborhood blight and trash. It is a fun way to engage residents to restore the historic beauty of Birmingham’s urban neighborhoods through four separate projects.

OUR PROJECTS
Project 1
MAGIC CITY BLIGHT MOBILE
The Magic City Blight Mobile is a cargo van and trailer designed for a small volunteer crew to quickly clear vacant lots and decorate abandoned houses with colorful canvas window and door covers and paint highlights in selected places on the front of each house. The Blight Mobile carries all the clean-up materials, including necessary equipment to clean each lot. The crew will place colorful yard signs after they finish.
Project 2
Trashy Dayz
Trashy Dayz is an educational, fun competition between teams made up of students and residents from each of the 8 BUN neighborhoods. One day every third month each team collects trash and litter while learning about the many impacts of litter and trash on a community using the Trashy Dayz game app.® Team members receive a Trashy Dayz kit with a t-shirt, trash bags, gloves, water and snacks. Teams will earn points for the amount of trash and litter they collect and how well they do playing the Trashy Dayz game. The winning team receives a trophy for the school, a school gift certificate, and movie passes for each team member.
Birmingham United Neighborhoods
Birmingham United Neighborhoods (BUN) is a coalition of 8 neighborhoods working together since 2018 to improve neighborhood health through collaborative partnerships and projects. The 8 neighborhoods are: Belview Heights, Druid Hills, Fountain Heights, Riley-Travellick, Rising-West Princeton, South Titusville, North Titusville, and West Goldwire.
